We’re moving…
Well, by “we,” I mean me. And also you, if you want to come.
I launched Alison Stagg Counseling in October 2025 as a fully virtual practice. At the time, I’d been working fully virtual for the past two years as a contractor for another practice. I began working with that practice in 2022 (I started there a month after my girls came home, to be exact), and I saw clients in-person for about a year before going fully virtual.
When I went virtual in the fall of 2023, my girls had been home for about a year, and commuting to an office had just become too much. I needed to be home so I could check in with them between sessions, step in when there was a meltdown, and just be present to their needs as much as I could. I am so grateful I had the flexibility to do this and that my clients were understanding enough to continue our work together virtually. I’m so grateful that the ability to be home and present to my girls’ needs has certainly contributed to how much they’re grown and the stability we’ve been able to achieve as a family.
This August, I am taking a huge leap and beginning to work from an office again. It is a huge milestone and I definitely feel some anxiety about the change. I’ve spent the month of July moving in, very carefully attending to every detail, and working hard to curate a space where people will feel safe and so much healing can happen. I’m so proud of the space I’ve been creating and I can’t wait to share it with clients. My daughters have worked with me to pick out thoughtful pieces, especially toys and activities for the kids’ room, and they have been with me every step of the way in moving in and setting up. They’ve spent hours testing out all of the toys in the kids’ room and they protest when it’s time to leave, which to me is a huge compliment about how the space has come together!
Working with foster and adoptive families has been a dream of mine for a long time. It’s surreal that it’s finally coming true. I’m also so incredibly grateful to my adult clients that have helped me build my career so far and gain such valuable experience, and I look forward to some of you coming in person and some continuing our work together online. While foster and adoptive families have such a special place in my heart, so do my adults who are courageously working hard to understand and heal themselves every day. I’m grateful for all of you and so proud of the work you’ve done and the people you are.
If you want to join me at the new office space, I’d love to have you! Please check out the photo gallery here. I promise you that every detail of the office has been planned and thought out and put together with endless care and pride.
